The emblem of the Republic of Poland approved by regulation of the President of the Republic of 13 December 1927: an white eagle in an open gothic gold crown with an open gold beak and a sticking out tongue, raising up its wide spread wings, a band ending with a star across its shoulders, straightened legs with gold clutches and unfolded tail, with red background in the form of a rectangle shield with gold frames. |
The emblem of the
People’s Republic of Poland set up by decree of the
Council of State of 7 December 1955: an white eagle, no
crown, with spread wings, gold break and gold clutches,
with red background in the form of a rectangle shield
prolonged in the centre. It was a modified version (uncrowned, with no gold shield frames) of the eagle from 1927. It was approved by a parliamentary act in 1980. |

The crowned eagle of Piast dynasty represented on the royal seal of Casimir the Great from the year 1336.
